RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES 

As we continue to navigate these unsettling times, we at Deltona Youth Soccer Club want to give you peace of mind upon your return to soccer this season. DYSC is following guidelines set by the CDC and have already implemented the following safety protocols. DYSC has been tirelessly working to determine ways to keep our players, coaches, families, and staff safe.

Symptoms of COVID-19 Infection:

  • Individuals with COVID-19 can exhibit symptoms ranging from mild to life-threatening.

The most common symptoms associated with infection include:

  • Fever ( ≥100.4 degrees F)
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Less common symptoms that may still be evidence of COVID-19 infection include:

  • Sore throat
  • Congestion
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Muscle / joint pain
  • Sudden loss of taste or smell
  • Chills

  • If anyone in the your immediate family is having any symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home.
  • No shaking hands, hugging or any kind of physical touch outside of normal soccer interaction during practice.
  • Do not share water, towels, or any personal soccer equipment.
  • Bring personal hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes.
  • Parents are to be seated around practice areas, respecting social distancing.
  • After using restroom, please wash your hands (use sanitizer if soap is not available) before returning to the fields.
  • Coaches are authorized to remove players from the field if player has any symptoms of illness.

Return to Play Phases – Deltona Youth Soccer Club is currently operating in Phase 3.

The Club must successfully navigate each stage within the recommended time frame prior to moving to the next stage.

Phase 1: Virtual Training


Phase 2: Individual and Small Group Training (recommended time frame: 4 – 6 weeks)

  • Maximum of 9 players and 1 coach training.
  • Group trainings must be distanced 6 feet apart.
  • All players are responsible for bringing their own equipment (soccer ball, shin guards, soccer cleats, water, hand sanitizer)
  • Players should not touch the ball with their hands.
  • Players should avoid all physical contact.
  • Parents and guardians are socially distanced from each other and the players. 

Phase 3: Full Team Training (recommended time frame: 3 – 6 weeks)

  • Full team trainings allowed.
  • Groups trainings must be distanced 6 feet.
  • All players are responsible for bringing their own equipment (soccer ball, shin guards, soccer cleats, water, hand sanitizer)
  • Soccer balls must be sanitized before and after use. Soccer balls may be handled by goalkeepers and for throw-ins.
  • Contact between players may occur during play
  • Parents and guardians are socially distanced from each other and the players.
  • Coaches equipment sanitized after each use.

Phase 4: Competitive Play (Indefinite)

  • All competitive play is allowed.
  • All players responsible for bringing their own equipment (soccer ball, shin guards, soccer cleats, water, hand sanitizer)
  • Pre-game or post-game handshakes should be avoided.
  • Handshakes or contact during player substitutions should be avoided.
  • Player passes should only be handled by the coach and be disinfected before and after use.
  • Social distancing should be maintained by all attendees before, during, and after the game.
  • Player temperatures taken prior to each game.
  • Shared equipment (soccer balls) should be disinfected prior to and after each game.
  • Coaches equipment sanitized after each use.
  • Any player, referee, or coach will notify the Club immediately following a confirmed Covid-19 case.

Return to Play Following Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19 Infection

Symptomatic player / staff with suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection:

Cannot attend club events until:

  • At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since resolution of fever (defined as ≥100.4 degrees F) without the use of fever-reducing medications and respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath), AND
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared

OR: 

  • Resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications, AND
  • Improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath), AND
  • Negative results of an FDA authorized molecular assay for detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA from at least two consecutive respiratory specimens collected ≥ 24 hours apart (two negative specimens) 

Player / staff with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 who have not had any symptoms:

Cannot attend club events until:

  • 10 days after date of their first positive COVID-19 diagnostic test assuming no symptoms since that time. If symptoms develop, then management should be guided as above for symptomatic individuals. 

OR: 

  • Negative results of an FDA authorized SARS-CoV-2 RNA test from at least two consecutive respiratory specimens collected ≥24 hours apart (two negative specimens).

 Return to Play Following Exposure to a Suspected or Diagnosed Case of COVID-19 

Any asymptomatic player or staff member who has been exposed to an individual with a suspected or diagnosed case of COVID-19 should be restricted from participation for at least 14 days and monitor for any symptoms consistent with infection. 

If asymptomatic after 14 days since last exposure, they can return to participation. In general, you need to be in close contact with an individual to contract the disease. In this case, exposure means any one of the following: 

  • Caring for a sick person with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection.
  • Living in the same household as an individual with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection.
  • Being within 6 feet of an individual with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection for around 10 minutes or more
  • Coming in direct contact with secretions from an individual with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection (being coughed or sneezed on, sharing water bottle or utensils, for example)
